Not a bad idea. I had a similar idea once, but it was more along the lines of an actual glue trap...
The trap is virtually the same as your average rat glue pan, only 6' long and 3' wide. It's mounted inside the floor, set in deep enough so a floor panel can fit over it. You can set it so that either manually or automatically (via an alarm system), the floor panel(s) over it retract and expose the glue.
If someone breaks in and manages their way to the trap, they would step down (expecting a floor to be there), and instead fall a couple inches, just enough to throw them off balance. Their foot would become stuck, and the short fall could cause them to lose their balance and fall further into the glue (sticking more clothes or even their hands). Even if they don't fall down, they'll lose a shoe (or two) and either flee immediately or spend enough time trying to get unstuck that police responding to the alarm will have a head start on catching him (or her).

I can see this happening in some sort of alternative or science fiction universe. It's certainly more humane than setting up the traditional devices, definitely more amusing and not to mention fun to watch too.

I'll say....is there an idea for a new movie there, starring the lovely Miss Jessica as an unlucky cat burglar???
Maybe we need to take this idea across to the Scenarios section, and develop it a bit?!

Actually I did suggest a Home Alone type scenario where Jessica or her evil twin Priscilla gets foiled by another woman using various sticky traps. It's somewhere on the board don't remember where and at the moment don't have time to look for it. I LOVE the silly stuff.
