Hello to everyone.just a little note to say that I have been watching with sadness the dmage done to areas of your beautiful country by those massive hurricanes. Down here in Australia, there are charities that are trying to help and people wanting to volunteer,as no doubt there are in America.Mother Nature at her worst;nobody deserves to get pummelled like that! Our prayers go out to all those who have lost their homes etc,or worse and I hope that nobody that posts on this site has been affected. Keep safe everyone and hope to hear from you all soon. ;D

[glow=red,2,300]Yes, it is a horrible thing for any person in any country to go through.
I don't believe anybody from the board was in the mess.
Waiting to see what happens to Florida next. Honestly, I don't feel too much for these folks. They KNOW what the risk is when they move there... ocean front property is NOT worth risking ones life.
P.S. when I come to Austrailia, will you be my tour guide?[/glow]

Yes,I guess living in a city that is surrounded by levee banks and is lower than the lake next to it...... Doesnt that say, what are you thinking!!!!! ?? I am not sure that I would be up to the standard of looking after such a lovely person such as yourself, but if we catch up one day,I will give it a go!!

The same things can be said for those who choose to live in any place you're at risk from the forces of nature like areas prone to wild fires and mud slides. Not everybody like living in cookie cutter box houses crammed together like caged rats. Now as for living in places that are below sea level and dependent on technology to keep dry I don't know about that one. It's been done for centuries but if the government doesn't keep the stuff maintained you're in for trouble. New Orleans has been around since the 1700's and will continue to exist long after we're gone. The people there KNOW how to party. ;D

[glow=red,2,300]I would never move to an area like that, I prefer my land and house vs. living in an area that is as well known for crime as parties. AND I'll NEVER move to Florida.... that's where people move when they're old and ready to die.
Humans are like Lemmings... we go back to what destroys us... because some humans aren't smart enough to realize it.
Gimme my house on a slab of land over living bunched in together in a trailer park or apartment building in the direct path of 3-5 hurricanes per year.[/glow]

I have a brother you USED to live in Florida but he only relocated there on account of his job. He lived in the Orlando area well inland.
I've been to Florida visiting him, it's a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there full time. I don't like the climate but stuff like 3 inch long hissing cockroaches and finding alligators in your backyard after a good storm are cool. So are the periodic frog invasions, don't know what's behind that, I think it has something to do with their mating season.
Same can be said for Louisiana and New Orleans BUT I tell you this I WOULD NEVER MOVE TO A PLACE THATS IN THE CENTER OF WHAT IS CONSIDERED A CORROSIVE ENVIRONMENT. If it can eat up paint, steel and cast iron at an accelerated rate no telling what it will do to your body over time.
About the lemming thing some people like the challenge, hurricanes are nasty but they nothing compared to a major earthquake, they come WITHOUT warning, all you can do is hope your place don't cave in on you and make sure you have enough food water and weaponry to last at least a week.
Every place has it's ups and downs I don't spend too much time worrying about it. CALIFORNIA ROCKS!! ;D
