This morning while at the local Lowe's Hardware Center I saw a new brand of glue trap. I wonder if the Tomcat brand is any different than Trapper or Gotcha Glue.
Lot's of people are down on glue traps because they're said to be cruel and inhumane. Nice to see that they haven't banned glue traps yet. Personally I highly doubt that they ever will, as they're too convenient.
I wonder that motivates people like that as I don't think poisoning them is all that humane either, but if you don't control the rodent population people end up getting sick. Those little critters can do a lot of damage too.

[glow=yellow,2,300] If I had to choose between making an animal slowly starve to death over a period of days or be violently ill and die within a short time... I'd pick the poison. At least it doesn't take forever.
At least, I would rather die violently and fast than starve to death over a period of days or weeks.
Either way, I'm an animal lover... I'd be hard put to take an animals life any way.
But glue traps ARE nice and convenient for stuck fans.

Actually this is a battle we can't really win. We used to use glue traps for rodent control, bought bulk glue and made them myself. Had an incident involving a tenants Chihuahua so we stopped handing them out and began using electric traps.
The Rat Zapper 2000 is humane, death is instantaneous but the traps are expensive, had a couple disappear so we're thinking of going back to the glue traps again.
We did get the dog cleaned up using warm canola oil but it wasn't easy what these dogs lack in size they more than make up in viciousness. By the way a veterinarian told us about the canola oil, it also works for birds unfortunate enough to get stuck in glue traps too.
Chihuahuas were bred to kill rats so I never saw that the lady was so worried about. She really thought that a rat might attack her precious little Princess.
I took a piece of plywood smeared rat glue on it and tacked a piece of bacon in the center as bait. I told the woman to place it in the cabinet under the sink but she chose to leave it on the floor in front of it. The rest is history just another day in the life of an apartment manager.
I like animals too have trained ground squirrels to take hand outs and do simple tricks. They are smart but very far sighted, can't see beans up close so watch out when feeding them as you might accidentally get nipped.

[glow=yellow,2,300] Oh i c!
You manage apartments!
At first I thought you were doing animal control or something Sowwies!
No doubt.... little dogs are the meanest and yes, I remember watching something on Animal Planet about the Chihuahuas being bread (alongside some terriers) for rodent control.
LOL I can only imagine the dog covered in glue.... any pictures of the pitiful thing? [/glow]

Nope no pictures, I kind of thought it was funny but the lady who owned the dog didn't. Did I ever hear about that one from my boss, even though it wasn't really my fault.
Problem was that some of the units were re-piped, plumbers left gaping holes in the walls inside of some of the cabinets giving the rats access. I've patched all the holes so rats getting into the units are no longer a problem.
Dog wasn't really messed up that bad, had glue on it's feet and all over one of it's hind legs and right side. We were worried about her eating some of it because she tried to lick it off but glue is non toxic. Took about half an hour to clean up with canola oil then about 10 minutes to wash off the oil with dog shampoo.
Dog had to be muzzled she fought like a tiger and squealed like a pig. Not only are those little dogs mean they can make a lot of noise too. Funny thing afterward the dog seemed to forget the whole ordeal, she's quite friendly to me as long as I don't try and put her into the sink. ;D
