If you didn't see House of Wax in the theaters then I would highly recommend renting the DVD. Not only is there a scene in the movie where Elisha Cuthbert gets her lips superglued shut by the killer but several of the special features include scenes of an outtake where Elisha's character was supposed to run across a bed make of wax in the climax to evade the killer. The first take got botched because the wax was too soft and her feet sunk in to the point where she got stuck and had to be pulled out by the crew. The climax where the house of wax was melting was a real pain in the ass to shoot because all of the actors were getting bogged down and stuck in the stuff so if you want to see some guys stuck there's a lot of that as well.

Another good stuck scene is in the 1952 House Of Wax with Vincent Price. At the end the main girl gets shackled to a wax dummy cart and there is good closeups of here stuck feet and her moving her toes around. Just thought I would mention that one.

Gonna buy that DVD for sure. Don't really remember much about the original House of Wax other than it was in 3D.
By the way in Nightmare on Elm Street 4 didn't they have some technical issues with the roach motel scene? As I recall Debbie (Brooke Theiss) was transformed into a roach, during the process she was shown with roach arms and covered with what looked like rat glue.
I understand that they needed a cherry picker to get her out of the giant roach motel because they were afraid if she tried to walk out of there she'd get stuck for real. Wonder if they're any out takes of that one?

Wow, that was a hard turn as far as topic. How did we get onto Elm Street 4?
As long as we're on the subject now, I've always thought that the rumors that they used real glue and the actress really got stuck in Elm Street 4 were false. The reason I say that is that I remember watching the behind-the-scenes special for it on tv at the time it came out in theatres. From what I recall, what they used was actually the clear gel base used for the filling in jelly donuts. It's kind of gelatinous and easily created the same 'sticky string' effect as trapper glue as long as you don't stretch it too far. There was a crane and a harness involved in the shoot but it was to drop the actress a couple of inches when she falls and plants her face into the glue, not to pull her out afterwards. That is her real face that went into the 'glue', hence the need for something safe and non-toxic. If you watch the scene carefully the character pulls her face up from the glue and starts screaming, the camera cuts to a shot of her from behind, and then back to a shot of her from the front where a fake face gets pulled off. The idea that they used real glue seems to trace back to a description of the scene from Meer's Stuck Girls site. Where she got it I don't know. I've been trying to find a video store with a copy of the movie on DVD to see if it has the same featurette to confirm which version is correct but I can't find one anywhere to rent. Does anyone around here actually own the DVD in their personal collection?

Wow, that was a hard turn as far as topic. How did we get onto Elm Street 4? I was curious about the out takes I guess, you know how rumors go. Seen House of Wax a while back it was a GREAT Flick. Liked the super glue scene REALLY (fantasize about it actually) would like to do that to a couple of women I know. As for the DVDs next time I'm at Fry's Electronics I'll try and pick them up. Fry's selection of DVDs puts the local video outlets to shame, so do their prices. Well worth dealing with the holiday mobs.

You should have no problem either buying a copy online or finding one at a video store. In my area there's an electronics store chain called Frys they sell both recent releases and the vintage stuff, a copy shouldn't cost anymore than 10 dollars American.
It was a good flick any horror movie with Vincent Price is good, the man was a great actor with a twisted sense of humor.
Wonder if you can still find a copy in 3D? ;D
