Anyone see Fear Factor last night? Ok it’s a rerun, the contestants had to get into a Plexiglas chamber full of hagfish and see who can shove the greatest amount through a hole to her partner who dropped in into a bucket.
Where’s the challenge you ask? Well hagfish are like giant slugs covered with a thick sticky slime, the slime protects them from the digestive system of the fish they live inside, as you can guess they’re parasites.
The bikini clad contestant gets inside the top chamber signals she’s ready and they dump a couple 5 gallon buckets of them over her. Instantly she’s covered with this thick stringy foul smelling slime it’s almost like being covered with rat glue or melted gum. She’s cold, grossed out and struggles to grab the slippery slimy critters.
Once she has one she stuffs it out through a hole and her partner who’s sitting in the chamber beneath her grabs it as it slides down the outside of the chamber. He then grabs it and drops it into a bucket. Remember it’s covered with a thick sticky slime, he lets go of it and it slowly falls from his hand trailing thick strands of slime behind it.
The best part is where the bikini clad chick gets back out of the chamber struggling against the sticky slime covering her body. You get a great shot of the thick gummy strands pulling from her bikini clad butt as she does. GREAT STUFF!! ;D
[glow=red,2,300]I think that maybe I should edit this in so that no one will accuse me of providing false information, it seems that you can't believe everything you hear on TV. Hagfish were once thought of as parasites but it seems they aren't and that slime is a defence and probably a pretty good one too. Check out the link pretty informative great shot of their slime here too. [/glow] www.oceanlink.island.net/oinfo/hagfish/hagfish.html
